Lions, spacecraft, and spears: Oh, my! All this and an Order of the Stick reference (from me, I mean, not in the book) in a speedy little chapter known as part 10 of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Titan’s Curse…
I Break a Few Rocket Ships
What’s it take to get Percy past Zoe’s shields and into the quest officially? Oh, just the Nemean Lion. Percy’s smart enough to share his idea about where to target the lion with Zoe, and worked with her to kill it, which seems to have earned her grudging respect. It also earned Percy more respect from me, since I don’t get the sense he might have been so communicative a couple of books ago. (Let me know if you think that’s an unfair assessment)
When the guards were running around confused at the end, I’d expected that Thalia had used the Mist to mess with them, and that maybe Percy would then get around to actually asking more about that. But then it turned out to be Grover, and if Nico had been there, I’m pretty sure he would’ve called Grover the party’s bard.
