If I may quote Professor Farnesworth: “Good news, everyone!” This will be getting a little more press in the new year, but I’m excited and I wanted to share it with everyone: Booktrope (my publisher) has just officially re-published my first sci-fi novel (and my first novel, period), A Shadow in the Flames!
What does that mean? Well, apart from ASITF having left the self-published realm and joined Zeus Is Dead among my books that a publisher judges good enough to get behind, the novel is now available in paperback for the first time in years!
What’s more, both the ebook versions and paperback feature additionally polished revisions of the self-published version that I released as ebook-only in June 2013!
“Dark, violent, relentlessly intriguing and action-packed, A Shadow in the Flames excels at dystopian world building. A well-developed, multi-layered story that grabs the reader on page one and never lets go.” -Kenneth G. Bennett, author of Exodus 2022
If you only know me through Zeus Is Dead, note that ASITF is a different kind of book. While (some of) its characters are not without a sense of humor, the story is set in a cyberpunk world, darker and more serious than Zeus Is Dead.
“A decaying city, a mysterious arson, and a secret below the moon’s surface drive the action of this engaging and thought-provoking sci-fi thriller. A Shadow in the Flames will keep you guessing to the very end.” -Terry Persun, author of Revision 7:DNA
A Shadow in the Flames is also the first in a series of three novels. Book two, A Memory in the Black, will get the same treatment from Booktrope that ASITF just got, and will be republished sometime in March 2015. The third and final novel, A Dragon at the Gate, I hope to have completed and published in about a year.
So, that’s my news! How’s everything with you folks? 😀
