Having finished The Sea of Monsters, and gathering my thoughts to say at least a little about what I thought of the book as a whole, I’m realizing that reading only about a chapter a week makes it a little harder to keep track of my feelings about the book, or even the book itself. In my memory, it’s been spread across a longer period of time than my experience of reading The Lightning Thief was. [Read more…]
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 19 & 20
I had only two chapters left to go, and the momentum of Chapter 19’s chariot race just flung me headlong into Chapter 20, and I couldn’t stop to write an entry! So, that’s right, this time you get a two-for-one-deal! Okay, so I suppose that means you get half as many posts as you would have otherwise, but I’m putting the two-for-one spin on it anyway.
So anyway, without further ado, it’s time for Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters… [Read more…]
My Norwescon 2015 Schedule
As I mentioned here back in January, this year’s Norwescon will by my first time ever attending a sci-fi convention as an invited professional. (I know; I’m as shocked as you are!) In January I didn’t know any more beyond that I’d be on a few panels and would also be reading from Zeus Is Dead and signing autographs at some point in the conference.
Well, I’ve received my final schedule, and now I’m sharing it with you. If you’ll be in the Seattle area between April 2nd and 5th and are up for hanging out with a bunch of sci-fi/fantasy folk, head on down to the Doubletree by Hilton Seattle Airport and say hi! (Note that pre-registration closes March 28th.) [Read more…]
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 18
It’s equus ex machina in the latest chapter of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters…
The Party Ponies Invade
I’m a little late on posting this entry, mainly because I wasn’t sure quite how to go about it. I’ve definitely enjoyed reading the Percy Jackson series so far. I’ve especially loved seeing another writer’s take on Greek mythology in the modern world. Yet this particular chapter just didn’t work for me. Don’t hate me, but I’m about to get all complainy. (Yeah, I said “complainy.” I’m makin’ it a word and you can’t stop me!) [Read more…]
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 17
Whenever anyone travels to Miami these days, I secretly hope they’ll run into Michael Weston and the rest of the Burn Notice crew. That doesn’t happen to Percy Jackson, but some other stuff does. It’s time for part 17 of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters…
We Get a Surprise on Miami Beach
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 16
A cyclops that just won’t die, and a daughter of Ares that just won’t shut the **** up! All this and more (though not too much more) on the sixteenth part of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters…
I Go Down with the Ship
So this one’s a pretty short chapter, which now makes me feel a little badly about taking so long to get this post up. (Sorry. I’ve been busy with preparations for the A Memory in the Black re-release.) It’s nearly all action, so it moves quickly, as will this post. [Read more…]
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 15
In this corner: Polyphemus the Giant Cyclops! In THIS corner: Nobody! That’s can only mean that it’s time for the fifteenth part of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters…
Nobody Gets the Fleece
Okay, this is just an excellent chapter. The action is fast and flowing, we get Tyson back (along with the humor that comes from his being around), and I was surprised on multiple occasions. Of course, Annabeth probably didn’t like the chapter so much. The poor girl has gotten pummeled more than John Crichton lately. [Read more…]
