Percy wastes no time causing another disaster, but that’s okay, because without that, we wouldn’t have the first installment of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Battle of the Labyrinth! It begins with…

I’ve been to the Black Lodge… (Review)
…and it was funny.
But let me back up. If you’ve read this blog long enough, you know I love Twin Peaks. I was introduce to it in college, I introduced other people to it, I’ve been to Snoqualmie Falls multiple times, and I’m even a graduate of Twin Peaks High School (a.k.a. Snohomish High School, a.k.a. the school they used when filming Fire Walk With Me). You may also know that I like improv comedy. So when I heard about Seattle improv comedy theater Unexpected Productions putting on a show celebrating Twin Peaks, I grabbed a ticket faster than a one-eyed lady can put up silent drape-runners. Me on Buddy’s Writing Show
Ever caught Buddy’s Writing Show on YouTube? I had the pleasure of being a guest earlier this week, and I had a great time talking about Zeus Is Dead, Twin Peaks, my experience reading the Percy Jackson series, and being a geek.
Buddy’s a fantastic interviewer. Have a look!
Be sure to check out the rest of his interviews on YouTube as well…
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief (Ch 3)
Lousy step-parents, blue candy, prophetic dreams, and missing pants! That can only mean that it’s time for another installment of Michael Reads Percy Jackson! Enter The Lightning Thief, chapter three, a.k.a.:

I suppose it’s better to lose them unexpectedly. …I’m not sure how to back up that statement. And that’s my favorite chapter title so far. [Read more…]
The Super Awesome Geek Show!
So this week I had my second ever podcast interview. (Click here if you missed the first one.) This time I got to hang out with John Adams, who runs the Super Awesome Geek Show! Now I know what you’re thinking: “Wait, ‘Super Awesome?’ How’d YOU get on THAT, Michael?”
You’ve got a lot of nerve, haven’t you? I’m not going to dignify that with an answer.
After a bit of talk about (of course) Zeus Is Dead and Booktrope, we geek out about other things like Farscape, Twin Peaks, and The Strain. Also cereal. Breakfast is important!
Have a listen here on the Super Awesome Geek Show site!
Oh, and a slight correction: Vanya is in Bulgaria, not Romania. My brain mixed her up geographically with Amalia Chitulescu, who designed the covers for A Shadow in the Flames and A Memory in the Black.
Sorry, Vanya!
Ten Books That Stayed With Me
So a few days ago my fellow author Jonathan C. Bruce tagged me on Facebook in a list of ten books that stuck with him after reading. (Also, he mentioned Zeus Is Dead, so my suggestion that the publisher dip the entire book in superglue paid off.) It is therefore incumbent upon me to carry on with my own list. After all, this is the Internet, and failure to do so would cause the immediate collapse of civilization as we know it.
That’s how it works, people. Look it up. [Read more…]
Blog Tour Recap!
Last Friday marked the final day of my first ever book tour—the online tour for the release of Zeus Is Dead. It lasted July 21st to August 15th, and by all accounts was a success. Okay, so I haven’t caught up with Fifty Shades of Twilight Fanfic yet, but if I may quote our tall friend from Twin Peaks…
The tour was a great experience, and it was suggested that I put a cap on it with a post about what I learned along the way. [Read more…]
