Farscape Rewatch: “Season of Death”

It’s ironic, perhaps, that the episode called “Season of Death” features a resurrection, but this season makes up for that soon enough…
Season 3, Episode 1:
“Season of Death”

“We’re going to bring him out here, and see how HE likes the cold!”
“What if he likes it?”
“…ONE! PROBLEM! AT A TIME!!”
Sci-fi Movie Trailer: Ex-Machina
I just caught word of this movie, which looks to explore the ramifications of artificial intelligence, at least according to one person’s vision. As a sci-fi fan who sometimes writes about this sort of thing, too, I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.
It’s been released in the United Kingdom already, to apparently very favorable reviews.
Ex Machina comes to theaters in the United States on April 10th.
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Titan’s Curse – Starting Point
Having finished The Sea of Monsters, and gathering my thoughts to say at least a little about what I thought of the book as a whole, I’m realizing that reading only about a chapter a week makes it a little harder to keep track of my feelings about the book, or even the book itself. In my memory, it’s been spread across a longer period of time than my experience of reading The Lightning Thief was. [Read more…]
Guest Geeks: Seren Myamoto Anticipates the Singularity
A Memory in the Black, book two in my cyberpunk series The New Aeneid Cycle, just got it’s Booktrope re-release last week. So what could be a more fitting Guest Geek post than this one from electronica musician and fellow geek Seren Myamoto? Please welcome her as she talks about the Singularity, her love of the cyberpunk genre, and what we’ve got to look forward to from the technology the future! (Also, check out the music in her bio at the end. Besides being a geek, this woman’s got one heck of an amazing voice.) [Read more…]
Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 19 & 20
I had only two chapters left to go, and the momentum of Chapter 19’s chariot race just flung me headlong into Chapter 20, and I couldn’t stop to write an entry! So, that’s right, this time you get a two-for-one-deal! Okay, so I suppose that means you get half as many posts as you would have otherwise, but I’m putting the two-for-one spin on it anyway.
So anyway, without further ado, it’s time for Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters… [Read more…]
My Norwescon 2015 Schedule
As I mentioned here back in January, this year’s Norwescon will by my first time ever attending a sci-fi convention as an invited professional. (I know; I’m as shocked as you are!) In January I didn’t know any more beyond that I’d be on a few panels and would also be reading from Zeus Is Dead and signing autographs at some point in the conference.
Well, I’ve received my final schedule, and now I’m sharing it with you. If you’ll be in the Seattle area between April 2nd and 5th and are up for hanging out with a bunch of sci-fi/fantasy folk, head on down to the Doubletree by Hilton Seattle Airport and say hi! (Note that pre-registration closes March 28th.) [Read more…]
