Cover Reveal – Paradise Rot by Larry Weiner

January 5, 2015 By Michael G. Munz Leave a Comment

I’m pleased to be part of a cover reveal for the Booktrope edition of author Larry Weiner’s humorous horror-thriller (wow, and I thought Zeus Is Dead was  a mash-up!) novel, Paradise Rot!

Paradise Rot

Cover design by Greg Simanson, who also designed the Zeus Is Dead cover, so you know the guy’s got good taste in authors!

“Weiner writes with a smart, fun, electric style in the vein of Dave Eggers or Chuck Palahniuk.” –Kenneth G. Bennett, author of EXODUS 2022

Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 5

January 5, 2015 By Michael G. Munz 2 Comments

You leave for nine little months and everything falls apart.

You leave for nine little months and everything falls apart.

Well Camp Halfblood is certainly going to Styx, isn’t it? Hades convicts on work release, constant monster attacks, and a loss of appetite for pizza! All this and more in the fifth part of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters…

I Get a New Cabin Mate

Game Review – Dragon Age Inquisition (Part 2 – the Good!)

Part Two: Let's get positive!

Part Two: Let’s get positive!

So now that I’ve sounded like a fountain of negativity to rival Yahtzee (but without the animation and deadpan hilarity) in part one of my full Dragon Age Inquisition review, it’s time for me to say what I actually liked about the game. There’s a lot to cover. [Read more…]

Game Review – Dragon Age Inquisition (Part 1 – the Bad)

December 31, 2014 By Michael G. Munz 1 Comment

Part One: Let's Start with the Negative...

Part One: Let’s start with the negative…

Time flies. It’s been over a month since I posted my “first impressions” review of Dragon Age Inquisition, and I’m still playing it! Granted, I haven’t been playing it non-stop. Work, writing, blogging, reading, sleep, and the necessity of interacting with other human beings have to get some time, too. Yet I’ve logged over 80 hours with my human archer (ROGUE) known as Hobbes, so it’s time to say how the game holds up after my initial look. [Read more…]

Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters – Ch 3

I'm not sure if this chapter is short or a rapid ride just makes it feel that way.

I’m not sure if this chapter is short or a rapid ride just makes it feel that way.

Hailing taxis of eternal torment, or even temporary torment, sounds like a bad idea to me. But I shouldn’t be so judgmental. So, on we go with the third chapter of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters…

We Hail the Taxi of Eternal Torment

Okay, so this was actually a pretty quick chapter. We (i.e., me, but I like to imagine we’re all in this together) get a quick bit of rudeness from Annabeth, a wild taxi ride courtesy of the mythical Grey Sisters, and faster than you can say “don’t touch that eye, you don’t know where it’s been,” we’re back at Camp Halfblood.

And it’s under attack. [Read more…]

Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters (Ch 2)

December 28, 2014 By Michael G. Munz 2 Comments

Michael Reads The Sea of Monsters - second chapter!

Are they technically cannibals if they’re not human to begin with?
Just sayin’.

Doesn’t this kind of stuff just always happen on the last day of school? Yearbooks, tests, and burning down the gym. Ahh, memories. What am I talking about? The second installment of Michael Reads Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters, of course!

I Play Dodgeball with Cannibals

The monsters have found Percy, but at least they had the courtesy of allowing him a nice year of quality education before they pounced, right? Oh, and Annabeth is back! But I’m getting ahead of myself. [Read more…]
